fist pump tuesday returns!

February 1, 2011

Your eyes don’t deceive you — Fist Pump Tuesday has returned! I’ve decided to implement a little more discipline into my life as a result of my overpacked schedule (only four more weeks of this…phew) and that means pre-scheduling blog posts so that the crickets don’t set in.

Here’s what’s pumping my fists this week:

1. A Letter to My Daughters — I saw this guest post by Shawn Smucker on Rachel Held Evan’s blog and I definitely felt my heart catch. What a beautiful and empowering way to see raising girls as a dad. I was lucky enough to have a dad just like this growing up and I am overjoyed to see more dads like that.

2. Cornmeal Pancakes — This recipe popped out to me on the Kitchn and, as I love breakfast more than most people love their grandmothers, I was intrigued. I’ve been hearing more and more people singing the praises of New York Times food god Mark Bittman from the rooftops and if these pancakes are any indication, I can see why. I can’t wait to try them in both sweet and savory settings. Ginger peach jam and toasted almonds for one, perhaps some turkey sausage and swiss chard for the other?

3. Kitchen O’ My DreamsDear La Tartine Gourmande: can I please, please, pretty please come live in your kitchen? I saw these photos and immediately felt a giant swoon coming on. Wood stove? Lots of light? Colors? Open cupboard space? This might be the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen. I don’t even think I would care if I had a bathroom or any other rooms in my house if I had this kitchen.
