bare toes + window sill jams
As the first few weeks of the Farmer’s Market have kicked into gear, I have enjoyed its bounty so very much. I have my first few herb plants up and going and have made 20 jars of Vanilla-Speckled Rhubarb Jam. It’s the most gorgeous ruby pink color, shot through with all those tiny specks of vanilla bean. It just tickles the soul.
And not much beats watering your plants and feeling the cool water drip onto your bare toes. (Especially when it’s 90° outside.) I may not have a garden, but me and my stoop are a pretty happy pair.
Thanks to a tip from my friend Amanda, I’ve become obsessed with iced green tea and fresh mint. Oh so refreshing whilst making jam. And any other time.
It turns out so lovely, doesn’t it?
What is making your heart happy right now?

I’m jamming myself and probably will be the rest of the summer. We don’t have too much local fruit right now- just rhubarb and strawberries. I did also pick up quite a lot of mangoes, and those will be mango butter by dinner time.
