lenten prayer: day 24 + auntie bragging rights

March 16, 2010

Prayer of Spring

Lord God, thank You for spring
For all that is waking and all that is stirring
As we ourselves stretch towards resurrection
Draw us in to witness that all things are being made new
For the pure joy of open windows and the yawns of green sprouts
May we breathe slower as we awake along with creation
Renew us in this promise of life abundant
May we never forget the third day
Even as we weep at the foot of the Cross
Remind us that Your arms are big enough for even death
The old has passed, the new is coming
Even in me.
AMEN

…………..

As spring begins to perk up its ears, I can’t help but want to spread my arms and sing. If there were an appropriate mountain nearby and I happened to come across a wimple, you bet I’d pull a Julie Andrews/Maria and go dashing across those lively hills. But as I have neither mountain nor wimple, I will settle for what you see below: the cutest bunny rabbit in town (and country…and world…and universe). I love-love-LOVE this picture of my niece. At just shy of five months (!!!), she already has more personality than some fully-grown people I’ve met. We’ll call this portrait, “Little Addie Cotton Tail.”

Oh, I am an auntie in love (even when she is being a sassbutt, I still love the little sprout).

    @ Grandma:

She certainly is. This is the background on my work computer and I look at it when I need a smile. Works every time!
