a fresh coat of paint + some jazz

April 13, 2010

You might have noticed a few wee changes as you plop down in front of ye olde blog today.

  1. You are now visiting carolineclunk.com. In the style of what I like to think of as cyber vanity plates, I have named my blog after…myself. I admit, seeing it in type makes me feel a little chatchy, but oh well. I’m just that uncreative that I can’t think of a better website domain name than my own. My reasoning? It’s easy to remember and I wouldn’t have to change my website address if I settle upon another name for my blog (which I toy with occasionally, since technically, I stole mine from CS Lewis). It should forward automatically from my old blog address, so no worries! All is as it was, fair friends.
  2. Fancy, jazzy menu-ish thing (see right)! In scouring other blogs that have a similar vibe to mine, I decided my dusty little gal needed a little gussying up, a little splash of fancy, a sprinkle of jazz, that certain je-ne-sais-quoi. Ten minutes tinkering around in Photoshop produced a series of photo badges that help guide readers around my favorite topics and function as a menu of sorts. Fancy! Jazz! Je ne sais quoi!

In the weeks to come, I hope to establish a more consistent routine of how I update, i.e. have at least one “theme” day a week. What that theme is, I haven’t yet decided. Possibly something recipe-related? Or artsy or thought-provoking or outlandishly ridiculous? Or all of the above. Decisions are so hard.

Feeling stuck in a giant cesspool of non-creativity and life stagnancy lately, I hope that by focusing energies on this outlet, I can help bring myself out of whatever funk has been looming over me and stir up my brain a bit. I’m not looking for a mass following or to send my blog stats through the roof; I just simply like having a place to share stories, thoughts, recipes and life — even if the only person who reads it is my Grandma. (Hi, Granny!)

Enjoy my fresh coat of paint and feel free to throw in your own thoughts and ideas!

Copper boom!

I think it looks great! It definitely puts mine to shame (of course, that’s to be expected when it’s being compared to THE Caroline Clunk’s blog; plus, I don’t pay mine much attention – note to self: start blogging more consistently!). And I wouldn’t be too concerned about stealing the name for your blog from Mr Lewis; mine was inspired by Milan Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being – a must read if you’ve not already made your way through the pages).

    @ Kim!

Why thank you, m’dear! 🙂 I don’t know if “THE” needs to be in front of my name, but hey, I’ll take the compliment. And I will have to pick up that book; I’ve never read it.

    Thanks for reading and encouraging!

    Copper-boom!!!!!
I love you eternally for that. I am pretty sure I am the only person that will actually know what that is from.

Oh I just realized you put the clip behind it.
    oops.

Well you will be glad to know that I did not need to click the link to know what it was referring to…the exact episode of the season and what it involved.

I watch too much of that show.

    @ Scout!

The fact that you know what “Cooper Boom!” means is part of the reason why we are eternally pals and soul mates.

    😀
