a big bouquet of flours

June 4, 2010

“Stranger than Fiction” is one of my favorite movies. (If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor, and get thee to Netflix!)

So in this quirky, odd sort of film, Will Ferrell (playing a surprisingly deadpan IRS agent) develops a crush on Maggie Gyllenhaal, who owns and runs basically my dream bakery. (Round window! Quirky vibe! Giving away cookies!) As a way of romancing her (and I believe, apologizing for something), he brings her a bouquet of flours.

No, that wasn’t a typo. Flours, not flowers. (Soooo much better.)

I would swoon over that box of different kinds of flours any day — white, whole wheat, rye, spelt, rice, quinoa. More flours than the mind can imagine.

If any man would like to woo me someday, this might just be the ultimate way to do it. (Also, you would get a hefty amount of baked goods out of the gesture.)

…just sayin’.

    @ Scout!

I love that you love my nerdiness. It’s why we get along so well; it’s the basis of our soulmate-ness.

Enjoy the funk — I think Marissa secretly does. Go to the beach and stare moodily at everything. Maybe that will help.

    Love you!
