a jubilee of cherries

July 15, 2010

One of my favorite small joys in life comes in the form of roadside produce stands. Even if I don’t stop and buy anything, just seeing the humble little wooden stands, with their sturdy, handpainted signs and baskets of sun-warmed vegetables and fruits; well, it plumb just warms m’heart. (And apparently gives me a Southern drawl.)

While camping up north last weekend, my friends and I stopped to get cherries from a roadside vendor as we wrapped up our wine tasting tour and headed to the beach for our sunset bonfire. The colors were so bright and plucky, I couldn’t resist taking a few photos.

    @ James!

Someday, I will make it out to your orchard cabin and we will stuff ourselves silly with cherries. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would just love that!

    @ Beth!

Awww sheesh. Thanks so much! I have to give some credit to Photoshop, though. That’s where the photos get their vintage patina from. ๐Ÿ™‚
