this is just to say

July 17, 2010

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

-William Carlos Williams, 1962

The plums at the Farmer’s Market this morning were beautiful; I couldn’t resist picking up a bunch. I love their firm, sunset-colored sweetness. I could just stare at them all day long. But instead, I will be baking them into a plum cake, just like Miss Amelie.

Beautiful pics! Might just have to try this recipe. Plums are in season and I’m headed to the FM this morning. Thanks for the post.

    @ Annie and Beth!

Thanks! I love taking pictures of fresh produce — somehow, I just don’t think the photos can ever come out badly. Sooooo loverly.
