wave goodbye + say hello

August 8, 2010

Tomorrow marks the start of my last week at my job.

I’ve been with the Red Cross for nearly three years now, doing marketing, PR and wearing a whole host of random hats. I admit, though I won’t miss the midnight and weekend phone calls (I’m on 24-7 call as a media representative during times of disaster) or the days spent staring at strategic plans, I will sincerely miss the people I work with. It will be odd not going into an office anymore, sitting down at my desk and type-type-typing the day away.

At the same time, I am most certainly ready for a change of pace in my career. My classes for culinary school start in a few weeks and I am so excited and humbled by this opportunity. At moments, I can’t believe this is actually my life, my story; the One who is writing it continually surprises and thrills me.

If you would have told me a year ago that this would be my life, I wouldn’t have believed you…

…it would have been too good to be true.

I know they will miss you at RC, but I know exactly what you mean when you say you won’t miss the calls in the middle of the night! I’m so happy for you and I look forward to being able to stay in touch via Facebook and seeing pictures of all of the culinary delights you cook up! Have a wonderful week and enjoy your time in between! May God bless you beyond measure in this new venture!
