pressies, oh me, oh my!

I am a spoiled, spoiled girl.

Though my birthday is still two and a half weeks away, in the past two days, I have been utterly SHOWERED with lovely gifts, for one reason or another (ironically enough, none of them relating to my upcoming change in age). In blog language, this is my way of saying “thank you” and telling the world about how amazing my friends are.

I received a pile of cute mini English cookbooks and a stunning recipe binder from my friends Charity and Jessica who just returned from a trip to London. In their absence, I fiercely wielded a hose in their garden and watched a movie with their cats, which apparently entitles me to lovely, lovely pressies from across the pond. Huzzah, huzzah!

I also had my going-away party at work yesterday, which was utterly thoughtful and completely lovely (my word of the day, apparently). I’m not comfortable with being in the spotlight, so I kept trying to turn the tables to focus on other people. However, I was unsuccessful and had to bask in my morning of attention and glory (with furiously red cheeks). My co-workers put together the most beautiful gift basket, including two books I’ve been craving, as well as an assortment of gourmet goodies, kitchen utensils and even a chef’s hat they all signed. (Forgive the unseemly background of my unmade bed in the photo. It was 90 degrees and I’d been drinking wine.)

My co-worker Catherine made me a beautiful necklace and earrings (which I forgot to take a photo of, in my heat and wine haze). And another co-worker Jordan also presented me with a bottle of wine and the latest issue of Bon Appetit, “for my first day off,” he quipped.

How did I get so lucky, again?

Congratulations on each of these sweet, thoughtful gifts. How touching is that signed hat with all the well wishes!
