hello, gorgeous

August 26, 2010

I bought my first set of books for culinary school today — while I’m not super jazzed about my $92 book on sanitation, I am rather in love with this little beauty:

I kind of want to lick it, I can’t lie.

Oooohhhhhh, I can’t wait for us to make sweet, beautiful pies together.

As Linda Richman would say: you have shpilkes in your genecktigazoink. πŸ™‚
I was excited to see “Swiss Leckerli” in the bottom right (Leckerli is literally “little sweet thing”), but looked it up and it seems to be just gingerbread – is that right? Oh well, I still wouldn’t be opposed if you sent Lisa and me some πŸ˜‰ … Sorry for the overuse of smilies.

    @ Hilary!

I will try to secretly pass all the tricks of the trade on to you. Also, just to add onto your jealousy — I just found out from a chef friend that as a pro, I get a 20% discount at Williams-Sonoma.

    Uh-oh….. πŸ™‚

    @ Clinton!

    Ah, Linda. She’s like buttah.

I have actually never heard of Swiss leckerli — I wonder if we’ll make it in class? I was too distracted by the Florentine recipe. I had the most glorious florentine at the English Market in Cork, Ireland last fall and have been searching for a similar one ever since.

I will send you and Lisa a care package once all the baking commences. I wonder how well leckerli travels…?
