early fall sunshine + cold toes
I love waking up early and laying in bed, half-dozing and enjoying the feeling of the cold air on my face and wiggling into my blankets to stay warm, slats of early fall sunshine falling like dominoes through my window shades.
I don’t know if I’m exactly a “morning person,” but I really love mornings.
This morning, I sit at my bright red desk, contemplating making tea but mostly pausing to exist in the moment, cold toes and all. The “To Do” list next to me is written in bold, black letters, but I’m pushing it away just for a moment, to allow myself a minute to breathe, unencumbered by the worries about student loan refunds and other things that are small in the face of elemental deep breathing and the lengthening feeling of stretching on my tip-toes.
I’m listening to this song over and over, letting it sink in until I sit here, tears in my eyes, because I think it’s beautiful (albeit the video below is mildly cheesy — ignore that).
What are your favorite things about mornings?
