fist pump tuesday

October 12, 2010

Here’s what’s making me pump my fist in the air today!

1. “Blue Like Jazz” is SAVED! — I saw this come across one Donald Miller’s blog a few weeks back and wished from the bottoms of my feet to the top of my head that I could donate and help out. But being a broke culinary student whose job hasn’t produced its first paycheck yet, I had to sadly keeping scrollin’. I’m so glad to see that others were able to step up and save this intrepid film. I have read the book, Blue Like Jazz, probably at least five times and will be first in line for the movie, fists pumping!

2. Punkin! — Okay, as you all might be able to tell, I have a bit of a pumpkin problem. Come fall, as soon as the first nibble of chill hits the air and it becomes okay to stuff everything in sight full of spices and pumpkin, I go wild. Like really, really wild. Like I would post nothing but pumpkin recipes every single week if I didn’t think other people (not ME, mind you) would find it ridiculously repetitive. I just saw this recipe on From Scratch and about died. GLAZED PUMPKIN FRITTERS?! Good thing I refuse to make these until another human being is around, otherwise, me and 20 fritters all alone — Lord only knows what I’d do. Soooooo…who wants to come over?

3. Thankfulness, Every Day — At first, Ann’s post began stirring my deeply felt longings for Thanksgiving. I spent a large chunk of work today, absent-mindedly dreaming about what I want to make for Thanksgiving this year. (Luckily, in graphic design, you can zone out and still be perfectly efficient…tally ho!) But as I read on, I began feeling a different stirring — one for a more intentional posture of thankfulness in my life. I love her idea of an easel in the kitchen, writing down what I am thankful for as it comes to me, so it stares me in the face every single day. As the kitchen is easily the room I spend the most time in (aside from sleeping), I think it might be perfect. Now, to find a reasonably priced marker board! (I have a feeling Target will be on my thankfulness list soon…)

I totally have a pumpkin problem! “Hi, my name is Leigh and I’m addicted to pumpkin.” I loved reading Ann’s post about Thanksgiving yesterday- she has such a way with words.

    @ Leigh!

I don’t know what it is about pumpkin, but it seems to bring out the addict in us all. 🙂
