fist pump tuesday

December 14, 2010

1. Vegan Cookies — I am in the midst of planning a cookie swap with a group of lovely ladies and when I came across this recipe for vegan thumbprints last night, I swooned. I’ve been dying to get my hands into some vegan cookie dough and bonus, I have a larder full of homemade jams. I need some readerly advice though — WHICH JAM DO I USE? (Choices: balsamic strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, red currant, blueberry lavender, ginger peach)

2. Going Indian — I am in the midst of preparing a menu for an Indian feast this weekend, as I venture north to visit my best friend. I currently have homemade naan dough rising next to my radiator and plans to make dal palak (mushroom, lentil, potato and mushroom stew) and some nan khatai (almond cookies). I wanted to make chana masala also, but since there are only four of us, I thought I might want to contain myself. Anyway, all of this to say — have any of you ever cooked Indian food before? What is your favorite recipe or dish to make?

3. A Photo Shoutout! — I wanted to give a fist pump (or twelve) in the general direction of my friend, Kelley. She just launched a gorgeous new website, showcasing her stunning photography. If you live in the Indianapolis area and are looking for a photographer (wedding or otherwise) with a unique view and a great eye for life’s beautiful details, get in touch. But mostly, this is just to tell Kelley that I’m proud of her heart and energy behind all she does. Fist pump to you, friend!

Do share, do share — how is thine fist pumping this week?

In regards to vegan cookies – peach jam!

In regards to Indian food – save some for me! (I like to make something similar to channa masala).

In regards to fist pumps – I give one for snowball fights with my students!

I love Indian food but have never made any from scratch. The kits at Trader Joe’s work well enough for me!
