fist pump tuesday
1. Internship: CHECK! — That’s right. Guess who has a real, bonafide, actual internship for the summer? ME! ME! I’ve spent the last two Mondays helping out/observing (through school) at one of my favorite local bakeries, Nantucket Baking Co. Not only did I learn how to round dough better and what it feels like to bake bread at 2 in the morning, but I got to talking with the manager about my passion concerning local, sustainable food and incorporating it into baking. The bakery, unbeknownst to me, is going to have a stall at a few local farmer’s markets this summer and they need interns to help run them. Would I be interested?
FARMER’S MARKETS, BAKING, TALKING WITH PEOPLE, FRESH FOOD AND THE POSSIBILITY OF FALLING IN LOVE WITH A FARMER?
What a perfect internship for me! I get to be a hardcore Farmer’s Market nerd for probably about 30 hours a week; with my TOMS and big, chipper smile, I’ll be a walking organic cliche. I will help out here and there in the actual bakery also, which will be a blast. It’s part-time, which means it’s enough to fulfill my requirements for school AND for me to keep my other job in the summer. God really outdid Himself on this particular chapter in my story. What an immense blessing! I will never stop using exclamation points!
2. Salted Caramel Adoration — I’m obsessed with salted caramel. It’s just a fact. I would drizzle, stuff, dip and frost everything in sight with it. I saw this recipe via King Arthur’s Facebook feed and nearly cried. SALTED CARAMEL FROSTING? I can’t wait to make some dark chocolate cupcakes, frost it with a healthy cap of this stuff and maybe top it with some crumbled pretzels. Because who the heck wouldn’t want THAT? (That is, if I can stop myself stuffing my face long enough to share. Which, of course, I will. Happily. Probably. Maybe.)
Okay, we’ll leave it at two this week. My first pump was so wildly excited that it counts for two.
SHARE YOURS! I want to know what’s making you excited this week.
