to market, to market

May 10, 2011

This past weekend was a lovely meeting of baking (granola bars and a fig ricotta cheesecake!), sunshine and time with my family. We celebrated the mamas in our clan with a visit to the first spring opening of the Farmer’s Market, a little vintage hunting, and a big Mexican feast on Sunday afternoon. I sometimes need to step back and appreciate how incredibly blessed I am by what surrounds me. Seriously — blessed, blessed, blessed.

Cherry almond granola bars and big smiles for the first Farmer’s Market!

While Michigan doesn’t have much produce yet, we are certainly abundant in gorgeous flowers!

Sniff, sniff.

I love finding really good vintage deals. $4  — what a steal!

Also, I found a great deal on my most favorite item for the summer — a straw hat! A little Carrie Bradshaw, a little Anne of Green Gables, all fabulous! Hold onto your hearts, men of the Farmer’s Market! Baked goods and a sassy straw hat — you don’t stand a chance against the charm.

Hmm… it looks like our Mother’s day celebrations were quite similar. I too went to the farmer’s market and antiquing. However, though we did not have a Mexican feast, we did go to all our favorite BC restaurants.

Quite a nice way to show the love.

P.S. I tell my sister all the time that if/when she ever moves to Michigan, you guys will have to be friends. I think you will LOVE her. And my bro-in-law isn’t half bad either. You guys could talk farmer’s marketing and organic gardening until you’re blue in the face.
