i be jammin’

June 28, 2011

I went to take my recycling out today and noticed there are five empty canning jar boxes in there.

Needless to say, I’ve been jammin’…a lot. A lot, a lot.

I’m even jamming right now.

(Both in the fruit sense and in the Simon and Garfunkel sense…as much as a person can jam to S&G.)

So I promised a fun announcement concerning my jams and I won’t disappoint! As you know, I’ve been working at Lubbers Family Farm this summer, interning in their bread bakery and cheese creamery. The farm itself has a little store on their property for their customers who come for their raw milk share, eggs, and meat. This August, it will be opening to the public, stocking more local items, INCLUDING MY JAMS!

That’s right. I’m one step closer to becoming a household name — or at least, in sharing the bounty of delicious and creative jams. I will also be developing a chutney or two to go with their cheese, and possibly selling some granolas and other baked treats.

Am I excited, you ask. Um, I believe the correct answer is HECKS YEAH.

I am beyond grateful for the support I’ve received from everyone around me as I chase this delicious dream of mine. Frankly,  I am overwhelmed by it at times.

So, to all of you who have made their morning toast with my jam, eaten my cupcakes at your parties, told your friends, left an encouraging comment or simply walked into my home, exclaiming, “It smells so good in here!”, you are infinitely appreciated.

What have you been cooking this summer?

That’s awesome! I’m sure your jam is amazing and will sell like hotcakes! And probably tastes great on hotcakes too:)

This is wonderful, Caroline. You deserve this success and I am so happy for you. If I can help in anyway, let me know. Your encouragement spurred me on when I thought I might give up.

I cannot wait to make it back up to the Mitten and check out Lubbers.
